Princess Yachts International: The Princess S Class

Princess Yachts S Class

1993 was a red letter year for Princess Yachts International. With the launch of the Princess V39 and Princess V52, a new era of sleek high performance sports yachts dawned, known as the V Class.

Combining dazzling sports boat profiles and top speeds approaching forty knots with spacious interiors and the exquisite quality that the Princess marque is renowned for, these two vessels broke new ground not just for the company, but for sports yachting globally. Performance without compromise was the marketing strapline – an ethos that the V Series maintains to this day, with a hugely successful line of boats that span seven models from forty to sixty two feet.

Two decades later, Princess Yachts did it again, launching a completely new concept in luxury yachts, the S Class. A hybrid solution, the Princess Yachts S Class cleverly fuses the finest attributes of a flybridge yacht with the styling, emotion and ultimate performance of a sport yacht.

Announced late 2013 and launched at the Miami Boat Show in February 2014, the first and largest of this innovative new line is the Princess S72. From the outside, the sleek aggressive sports yacht lines remain intact – this is a fabulous looking machine. Look closer and you’ll spot the cleverly integrated low profile flybridge. Low profile yet not low in facilities. Easily accessed via a wide comfortable open tread stairway, you’ll find a full sized dining table surrounded on three sides by deep comfortable seating, a wet bar, and further seating next to an upper helm that offers the full alfresco driving experience.

Yet on the main deck you’ll find the same kind of single level living that you would enjoy aboard a sports yacht. There’s a sunpad above a massive garage capable of swallowing a 3.9 metre RIB, and a huge sliding roof section above the helm at the forward end of the saloon. As you’d expect, all of the spacious cabins on the lower deck are en suite, and there is a separate crew cabin accessed via the transom. But the S72 isn’t just performance promise – on the water it delivers with a deep vee sports hull and a thoroughly high performance top end of forty knots with the largest engine option.

A massive hit from the moment the keel touched the water, the S72 certainly impressed the judges of the prestigious Motor Boat Of The Year Awards, scooping a win in 2015. And it’s been equally well received by discerning yacht owners the world over, who have embraced the multi faceted benefits of this new concept.

The S65 launched in 2015 offering a similar blend of luxury and performance in a slightly more compact size, and the Princess S60 launched at London Boat Show this year, introducing this exciting new genre to the sixty foot luxury yacht sector.

All three S-Class yachts hold dear to the tenets set in place by the flagship S72, that of sleek looks and ultimate build quality that so cleverly combine flybridge yacht luxury and convenience with the high performance thrill of sports yacht dynamics.
